Please join me on October 12th at the Alexander Valley Community Hall to have a great time for a good cause: the First Annual Texas BBQ and Live Auction to benefit Wine Country Affordable Housing. I’ll be cooking Texas BBQ – that’s beef brisket, baby back ribs, homemade mac and cheese, baked beans, etc. There will be a silent auction with all sorts of things you want anyway – a spa day and rooftop dinner at Harmon House, skincare products from High Beauty, wine dinners, and tours and tastings, and magnums of tiny production local wines from producers like Bannister, Sutro, Jaclynn Renée, Trione, and Carpenter. There will also be a very limited live auction featuring an in-home dinner for twelve (12!) from Spinsters Sisters, dinner at 3 Michelin Star SingleThread Farms, a catered pool party at Thunder Bird Ranch, and so on and so forth. After that, we’ll turn the evening over to the hippy rockin’ honky tonkin’ Sunset Canyoneers.
Perhaps best of all, the evening will feature a varied and bottomless selection of small production local wines (too long to list), served table-side by some of the people who make the wines and know them best. OK, I’ll name a few: Medlock Ames, Rootdown, Leo Steen, Silver Oak, Hawkes.
The price is $50 all in, $30 for kids. Ticket packages for reserved tables and special wine selections for up to ten guests are available for $500. Every dollar goes to the Housing Land Trust of Sonoma County.
